Training 1 (T1) is a fun, introductory class for young singers to learn healthy vocal habits through unison singing. With body and vocal warm ups, imaginative singing activities, folk songs, rounds, and song games, singers grow in their musical knowledge and vocal abilities, gaining confidence as performers. This introductory ensemble requires no audition or prior training.

Classes begin the week of August 29th.

In Training 1, students will:

  • Prepare bodies and mind for singing through stretching, breathing and vocal exercises; learn and practice performance posture

  • Perform in unison singing and simple rounds

  • Learn basic elements of music notation and start to sing in solfege (do-re-mi)

  • Sing and move to folk songs; play song games
