Program Overview continued

Over the past 36 years of training, PEBCC has developed a Kodály based curriculum that identifies musical goals for children to attain at each level before moving to the next level. As children learn differently, mature differently, and process information differently, we look at the child as an individual to see if, in fact, those goals have been met and if that child is ready to be challenged at the next level. This process then sets them up to succeed as they continue their music education.

We offer classes  in three different departments: Pre-Kinder and Kinder Department, Training Department and the Performing Department.  Each class is led by a teaching professional with outstanding professional credentials. Each class builds upon skills learned in the previous class and engages young students through exploration of text and interpretation, theory, musicianship, vocal training and performance.

Unique to the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir is that students often work on collaborations with living composers, perform newly commissioned pieces, and sees the Performing Department Choirs - Concert Choir, Ensemble and occasionally Ecco - tour nationally or internationally each season.

All rehearsals are held in the Piedmont area, in one of several venues including Piedmont Community Church, the Piedmont Center for the Arts, the Veteran’s Memorial Building, Piedmont Middle School, and Havens Elementary School so rehearsals are usually within a block or two of each other.
