WHAT WE DO

Since 1982, the internationally and nationally award-winning Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir has offered exceptional music and choral training to over 10,000 children throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, with a concentration in the East Bay. We do not require a vocal placement for enrollment in our Kinder and Training 1 choirs or our school based partnership programming. Choirs requiring vocal placement hold placements twice yearly, in August and in January. They can also be scheduled individually. We offer choirs that are appropriate for varying degrees of music experience for students ages 5 -18.

PEBCC has developed a progressive Kodály based curriculum that identifies musical goals for children to attain at each level before moving into the next ensemble. As children learn, mature, and process information differently, we look at the child as an individual to determine when those goals have been met and that child is ready to be challenged at each new level. This process sets them up to succeed as they continue their music education into our Performing Department choirs.

We offer classes in Three different departments:
School Programs
Training Department
Performing Department

Classes are led by nurturing, experienced musicians and music educators with outstanding professional credentials. Each class builds upon skills learned in the previous class, engaging young students through text exploration and interpretation, theory, musicianship, vocal training and performance.

Leading the way in commissioning new works, PEBCC provides opportunities to work on collaborations with living composers, perform newly commissioned pieces, and the Performing Department Choirs - Concert Choir, Ensemble and occasionally Ecco and Ancora - tour nationally or internationally each season.

Training Department rehearsals are held in Piedmont community venues including Piedmont Community Church, the Piedmont Center for the Arts, and the Veteran’s Memorial Building. Performing Department rehearsals are held in Oakland at the Plymouth Jazz and Justice Church - readily accessible by car and public transportation for our regional ensembles.

PEBCC also provides on-site, after school choirs with school partners in Alameda and Oakland - please contact us for more information.
