Day 2 - Midtvest met the West!

First thing this morning, Midtvest met the West (aka our singers) and were joyfully chatting before our 9:30 joint rehearsal. It was hard to pull some of these budding friendships away from each other, but rehearsal was necessary. We had “The Dorta” warm-up, similar to the stimulating warm-ups we enjoyed at camp last summer. After three hours of focused and fun rehearsal, it was time for lunch and then we hit the road for Vestervig and our first concert on tour! Yippee! Our concert was at the largest “country church” of Denmark which was nearly 900 years old! It was a awesome space to sing in! After a great start to our touring concerts, we were quickly scooped off to have dinner together, which was by candlelight and with some delicious sandwiches that the church provided. Who knew that curry could be so good with chicken and pineapple on this wholesome Danish bread!? Yummmmmm.

After our candlelit meal, we headed to the west coast of Denmark to celebrate a first concert victory. Despite the cold and brisk waters, just about everyone put their feet in and played in the water. There was lots of great conversation between the Danish choir members and those of Piedmont. Discovery of the cool places to hang out, picking up colorful rocks, and making intricate designs in the sand were on the top of the list. Singers took all sorts of photos, posing in the late night bright sun of Denmark’s west coast.
