Day 10 - Farvel Københavns! Haj Stockholm!
Today was filled with sadness for saying goodbye to yet another fantastic home stay. Singers wore their homemade t-shirts for their groups which included the names of each group: Suzie's Sistas, Bob's Bobbleheads, Sue's Solfegers (of course with a treble staff and proper key signatures), Julie's Jumpin' Jerboars, Chris's Crew (thanks Steve!!) and Marisa's Magical Midgets. All of the themes were quite creative and fun with fantastical colors and drawings.
To say goodbye to our home stays, we sang Sommer Psalm and the Star Spangled Banner in honor of our Independence Day. After quickly boarding, we hit the road for Sweden. We watched several movies on the trip including Forrest Gump and The Night at the Museum 2. Several bathroom breaks and lunch breaks were included along with Marisa's choir tour themed crossword puzzle and word search. It was probably the best 8 hour bus trip most any of us could have!
Upon our arrival to Stockholm, we were thrilled to get into our hostel rooms, get settled in and have some dinner. At the Chinese restaurant that we ate at around the corner (thank you, Marisa, for negotiating a yummy dinner!), we had a reprieve from sandwiches and had our first meal out together without other visitors. It was nice. After our meal, we sang Johnson Boys, Nocturne, and Sommer Psalm. Some locals eating listened and watched, and the restaurant owners even took videos. One woman listening was so enthralled by the music, that she was hugging and kissing Bob and other singers with solos. Even after some time, the woman's husband came by again to compliment the group on their quality of singing and their good behavior.
The night ended with some of us taking showers and going straight to bed, while others just read for awhile and went to sleep. It was nice to be together in the hostel, and to be in Sweden.
