Arrival - Day 1

We have arrived safely in Germany and with all luggage . Will post update and details tomorrow.

Flight 455 to Frankfurt cleared for take off!! Willkommen to the Ensemble tour 2013, to Germany, Austria, and Slovakia blog! The excitement was obvious as we successfully made it through check-in and security and are currently on the plane ready to begin our exciting journey! We will be blogging and posting pictures throughout the trip so stay tuned!!

We arrived weary-eyed in Frankfurt at 11:00 am, cleared customs, met our bus driver, Heinz, who will be with us for the duration of the trip, loaded up and headed to Meiningen. Four hours later, we were greeted by Matthias, long-time friend of Piedmont Choirs and the former choir director of the Max-Reger Musikschule, where we explored the grounds of the music school and sang "Leise,Leise," a German folk song arranged by Matthias, in the Brahms concert hall. Despite the long hours of traveling and jet lag, all the kids sounded beautiful as their voices rang through the hall. Soon after, our host families came to get their kids, which was mentor/mentee, and the singers excitedly went home with their new families. Later that night, the chaperones explored the charming little town of Meiningen, had a delicious traditional German dinner, and saw some of our singers exploring as well. Looking forward to hearing their stories of their adventures with their homestays tomorrow morning!
