Day 1: Arrival in Seattle!
Concert Choir tour has started off with a bang! After a smooth flight from Oakland, the singers arrived in sunny Seattle early this afternoon, and Concert Choir set a record for most efficient airport exit in PEBCC history for a group of their size. We boarded our bus and were introduced to our wonderful bus driver, Paul, who pointed out some lovely nature from the bus windows. We arrived in Bellevue, Washington for our afternoon concert with Columbia Children's Choir, called Springsong. This was a special treat for our singers because it was the final concert of their season, similar to our own "Spring Sing." So, not only were we able to watch lovely performances from the Columbia groups, we were also able to watch some of their high school seniors graduate. Concert Choir performed a set of pieces from their repertoire and received resounding applause and glowing feedback from the audience for their beautiful singing!
After the concert, our singers were introduced to their host families for the evening. Most of the singers are staying with families from Columbia Choirs and some are staying at the hotel, but all the singers were taken to host families' houses for dinner. This was a great opportunity for our singers to spend more time with the singers and families in the choir and bond over the afternoon's concert and their shared love of music!
A particularly special moment from today was our reunion with Shauna and Charlotte Fithian. They were so helpful in coordinating our arrival at the concert and in introducing the Concert Choir singers to their host families!
After a busy first day, the singers are resting up for our first full day in Washington tomorrow. We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
