Day 7 - A Journey Home

After a relaxing evening in the volcanic hot springs, we arose early for a long day of travel. A delicious breakfast of gallo pinto (spiced rice and beans), plantains, and fruit behind us, we clambered back onto the bus for the journey back to San Jose. Our fearless driver Jose guided us on our final journey through the rolling green foothills of central Costa Rica, driving over pristine rivers and over soaring mountain passes. At the airport, we bid farewell to our very generous guide Bernardo, who has taken such wonderful care of us this week.

As we soared out of the San Jose airport, we couldn't help but hope that this wouldn't be our final visit to this beautiful and welcoming country. We spotted Arenal  volcano and its lake, even more massive when viewed from the air, in the distance. after tracing the gorgeous Pacific coastline of Costa Rica and Nicaragua, we turned inland to land in Mexico City. After a jaunt through customs and security to our new gate, we boarded our flight to San Francisco. Upon our descent into the bay, we witnessed a stunning sunset over the clouds welcoming us back home.

This has been Ecco's first international tour in two decades, and we couldn't imagine a better group of singers to embark on this experience together. They surprised and delighted us at every turn with their musicianship, open minds, and global citizenship, and we are so pleased to be part of their journey towards adulthood.
