Making History Concert

  • First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley 2407 Dana Street Berkeley, CA, 94704 United States (map)

Make history with us this Spring! Amplifying the voices of living composers while raising their own, our advanced Performing Department ensembles share works that lift up contemporary voices and themes.

We are delighted to welcome the Girls' Choir of St Catharine's College, Cambridge - one of the pioneering university girls’ choirs in the UK. They will share selections from the spell binding choral cycle The Lost Words by James Burton.

This year’s program features the world premiere of Echoes of Eureka, a groundbreaking seven-movement opera by Eric Tuan that sheds light on the forced expulsion of Chinese immigrants in 1885 Eureka, California. Through powerful storytelling and music, the work explores themes of justice, resilience, and community, drawing connections between history and the present day.
