Susan Emmett Rahl—founded the Choir in 1982 as a boys choir when her son was a chorister. It has grown from the original 22 boys to the large multi-faceted organization it is today. Suzie was Board President, then Executive Director until her retirement in 1999. She has remained involved by planning and leading Ensemble’s touring program for the last 20 years. Her great joy has been to see so many singers come back to the Choir as conductors, voice teachers, staff, and board members. Suzie holds degrees from Stanford and Tufts Universities. She worked as a teaching assistant at Harvard and Stanford Business Schools and as a management consultant until after she and her husband, Dick, had three children. Emmett, Riva, and Marisa were all founding members of the Choir.
