Day Six, off to Mexico City
We awoke to a gloomy morning in Morelia and had a nice breakfast at the hotel before schlepping our suitcases two blocks to the bus. The 3 hour bus ride was filled with a movie which our guide had purchased for us, as well as music revisions and napping. We arrived safely in Mexico City and checked into the very nice NH hotel before walking a few blocks to get lunch. Lunch was at a lovely little Italian restaurant and we all had a nice filling meal of spaghetti. After lunch it was quickly back to the hotel to change and gather things for the rehearsal and concert. We had to leave early as traffic in the city is horrendous. Not like bay area traffic, here it is worse than LA! The concert was in beautiful auditorium, the stage backdrop is the first mural painted by Diego Rivera. Though tired and drained from the altitude, the kids put on an even better performance than the night before. Our kids followed the very youngest of the local choir we are singing with here. They were adorable and much reminiscent of our training department. Our late dinner was a great meal of civiche, soup, enchiladas, and ice cream for dessert. We were serenaded by some mariachis and after our meal the kids rocked the house with a couple of their songs to the restaurant staff and customers. Then it was back to the hotel for a much needed nights rest.
