Day 4: Final Concert and Seattle Sightseeing!

June 18, 2019

Our last full day in Seattle was filled with more sightseeing, music, and learning about the city of Seattle. Concert Choir left the hotel on this foggy morning and got breakfast at various spots around Pike Place Market. The singers had time to explore some of the different stands in and around the market, and a few of the groups even earned a bag of high quality smoked salmon in exchange for singing a song to some of the men at one of the fish stands!

After walking back from Pike Place, the singers changed into their concert uniforms and walked over to Hilltop House, which is a retirement home that provides affordable housing for adults ages 62 and older. Concert Choir performed a full, beautiful concert for some of the Hilltop House residents and received resounding applause from the audience. After singing, the kids mingled with the residents and got to talk to them about school, choir, music, and more.

Concert Choir ate lunch after spending some time talking to the residents, and then we all headed back to the hotel to change back into jeans and polos to prepare for more Seattle sightseeing activities. We took the Monorail from a stop near our hotel to the Seattle Center. At the Seattle Center, our first stop was the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit. Everyone enjoyed seeing different beautiful pieces of glass art and the singers performed a few songs in one of the rooms, which delighted the audience in the museum!

After leaving the Chihuly Gardens, we stopped for dinner at the Armory, which has different food options ranging from pizza to falafel to chicken and waffles. Then, our last stop of the night was the Space Needle, where we spent lots of time admiring the beautiful view from the upper deck and singing and relaxing on the observation deck, which has a rotating glass floor! This was a very special experience for everyone, and the other people visiting the Space Needle had a wonderful time listening to Concert Choir sing their repertoire.

After another packed day, the singers are tucked in bed and preparing for our last day in Seattle. We are sad that tour is coming to a close, but are excited for the rest of our activities!
