Day 5: So Long, Seattle!

This morning, singers woke up early to take one last trip to Pike Place market for breakfast. Singers eagerly returned to their favorite spots from yesterday; Cassidy and some other choristers went back to Starbucks, while Alex and Nico went to buy cucumbers to accompany their fresh baked pastries because “they wanted to eat something green.” We then returned to the hotel for checkout before heading over to Hilltop House, an affordable housing community for seniors. Concert Choir performed their entire repertoire and stayed after the performance to mingle with residents. Ayla and Ainsley both had really nice conversations and Nico told us he met a man who was originally from San Francisco.

We then had to deviate from our original plan when our lunch reservations fell through. Together, we walked back to our hotel to board the bus, and headed to Westfield Southcenter Mall to get some much needed food. While we were sad to miss the Aquarium, our singers were just happy to be together.

After eating, we had Closing Circle. This is a time honored tour tradition where each singer has a chance to share what they enjoyed most about tour, as well as what they liked about Concert Choir this year and what they are looking forward to in the next. Tears were shed, and laughs were had as singers shared about the challenges of zoom choir, favorite tour moments, friendships old and new, and how much they love being able to sing and travel together.

We then boarded the bus to head back to the airport for our flight. Daniel said that while he has really liked the tour, he’s excited to go home. It has been such a joy to travel with Concert Choir this year. So long, Seattle!
