Day 4: Space Needle and Glass Gardens
Day four was a whirlwind of Seattle adventures. We got to sleep in all the way until 8 am before preparing to head to Pike Place. The singers gathered in small groups paired with chaperones and embarked on a short walk to the Public Market. The children were able to pick what they wanted for breakfast and lunch, and got to see the iconic market. After breakfast, Fritz had 10 cents left, so he donated that money to Rachel, the golden pig in front of Pike Place. In addition to Rachel the Golden Pig, the singers saw many other Seattle landmarks. Some groups got piroshkis, others stopped for selfies outside the first Starbucks, and some stopped by the Seattle gum wall. The shops were very popular, especially a little store where all the kids got rings and stickers. Imogen, Kiera, and Stella sang Loch Lomond in the square, blessing Seattleites with their angelic voices.
After a morning of shopping and watching fish fly between vendors, we returned to the hotel for some rest or pool time. It was a great chance for everyone to recharge and hang out. Following pool time, the singers got dressed and we headed out for an afternoon of sightseeing. We took the monorail to Seattle Center, where we rode an elevator up to the top of the Space Needle. There was a gorgeous view of the city and the sound, and a lot of the singers faced their fear of heights! It was a really beautiful day. We then went to the Armory, a nearby food court where we had dinner. Immediately following dinner, we walked over to the Chihuly Glass Gardens, where the kids sang in the Glasshouse and got to see the work of famous Seattle glassblower, Dave Chihuly. In the giftshop, Rafa bought a stuffed animal, which he named Gordon Barnabus.
We took the monorail back to the hotel, where the singers got ready for the final day of tour. Tomorrow we have our last performance of the trip, as well as some last minute sightseeing.
