Day 5: Pet Rocks and Cabin Bonding
What an amazing day of camp! We woke up bright and early at 7:30 AM and got ready to start another fabulous day of choir camp. Hooray! For breakfast we had sandwiches, fruit, and cereal. How delish! Campers then walked up to Maple for some warm ups with our wonderful voice teacher Liz.
At our musicianship classes this morning, campers worked hard and learned a whole lot. In Owen’s theory class, campers began their first two part exercises. We were all so impressed by everyone’s diligence in becoming more knowledgable musicians.
After theory classes, Ensemble went to rehearsal with Eric in Maple, Joyful Voices went to rehearsal with Ms. Anne in Fireside, and Concert Choir went to rehearsal with Mr. Brown in Muir. Their voices sounded amazingly angelic!
Finally, we were off to lunch! Campers were obsessed with the delicious turkey burgers and fries. As well as some yumilicious carrots and ranch. Camp food is the best!
We had a peaceful rest period, and everyone had the chance to have some down time to charge up for a fun afternoon. The craft today was Pet Rocks!!!!!!! Although it was a bit messy (glitter was involved…), it was one of the best craft days so far. Counselor Maddy made “Rock Direction” (One Direction rock version) and many of the campers struggled to name every member. Balloon pets, some of whom were named “Steve”, “Gerald”, and “William”, were a favorite among CC campers. Campers also worked on designing beautiful keychains and created some new besties (in rock form). Friendship bracelets and lanyards were another favorite activity as usual.
The lake was extremely fun today, and the boats were back in use! Campers participated in swimming, splashing, silly shenanigans, and water fun. Turtle pond, we love you! <3
Camp Joyful Voices got to participate in a long-standing camp tradition - “Paint the Counselors”! Our CITs are great sports and the kids found it hilarious. Check out the photos.
Recital was AMAZING!!!! Camp Joyful Voices showcased 4 of their amazing songs that they have worked so hard on throughout this wonderful week. Ensemble joined for the “Hedgehog” song, and so did their pet pinecone hedgehogs. We were amazed by their exquisite french pronunciation. Joyful voices got to go to dinner first, and we indulged in some yummy fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Brownies for desert was another camp favorite.
Campers then went off to their nightly rehearsals, and worked super duper hard as usual. These kids are just so amazingly wonderful, smart, and fantastic!!!
After rehearsals, Joyful voices was off to their final campfire. They had yummy s’mores, and participated in the final wood chip ceremony. Some named their sticks and created a family tree of their stick friends (adorable).
Ensemble and CC cabins had cabin bonding tonight. Cabin Frog gave their counselor an amazing makeover and then played a few super silly and fun rounds of “Werewolf”. Cabins Newt, Mountain Lion, and Fox played a great game of capture the flag. Cabin Trout had a great spa and face mask night, and cabin Salmon played fun games and told stories. We love our choir family and Cabin bonding was a great opportunity for our friendships to grow. The campers were tuckered out from a long day of hard work and fun and went off to bed, feeling ready and excited for another epic day of choir camp! See you tomorrow! :)
