Day 6: Break Day Fun!

Today marks one half of camp complete meaning “Break Day”! Campers slept in until 8 today and devoured a breakfast composed of french toast, sausage and cereal. This morning, Alice led not only a vocal warmup but also one that warmed up the camper’s bodies. Sadly after warmups, we had to say goodbye to the wonderful Joyful Voices, however we welcomed Ecco!!!

After warmups it was straight to rehearsal where Concert Choir finessed their melodic minor scale and Ecco along with Ensemble took turns sharing their interpretations of a jazz song. Once rehearsals were completed campers built their own sandwiches with toppings such as chicken, pesto, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese! Due to Break Day, rest period was skipped and campers went straight to their cabins after lunch to change into their swimsuits and hiking clothes. The singers were proposed many options for the extended free time which would all end at the lake such as taking a walk to the creek, going on a hike, or heading straight to the lake.

At Turtle Pond, the choristers participated in diving competitions, paddle boating and making friendship bracelets in the shade. We could truly sense the community the campers have created as they encouraged Zuri to jump in the lake and join them in the fun! :))

After lake time was the POWER HOUR OF SHOWER, which consists of an hour of mandatory shower. Once all the campers were squeaky clean, they enjoyed a yummy pasta dinner with caesar salad and focaccia.

In order to keep the restfulness of Break Day, tonight’s night activity was a movie night. The singers got comfy by bringing their stuffies and sleeping bags to Maple where they giggled their way through “Shrek 2" while enjoying popcorn.

Now well rested, we know the choristers will thrive and flourish through the next stretch of camp!! See you tomorrow! :)) <3
