Day 3 - Here Comes the Sun and Even More Fun!
Day three of camp was a blast! While the morning was still foggy, the sun actually made an appearance, giving our campers an opportunity to really show off their spirit day outfits and enjoy the warmth. For Camp New Voices, it was Animal Day - there were many unicorn prints and stuffed animals of all sorts. Camper Kailash even came dressed as a fox! Ecco had Red Carpet Day today and camper Catalina came dressed in their formal wear best!
Camp New Voices rehearsed more of “Waly Waly” and “Give Me a Kite” today. Campers played a clapping rhythm game called “Four White Horses,” had some theory time, and spent some more time chasing bubbles and drawing with chalk. Today’s craft was coloring their very own kites - you’ll see them in flight on Friday in the “Give Me a Kite” performance video.
Ecco rehearsed more Estonian lullabies from composer Veljo Tormis; their pronunciation is superb! They also worked on a dramatic and difficult renaissance motet. During free time, Campers Khoa and Owen led a game of "Guess That Choir Song,” where they sing or play on the piano the first few notes or chords of a song and whoever can guess the song first gets a point. It was a lot of fun which ended with an impromptu performance of an Estonian favorite “Ta lendab mesipuu poole,” (there’s a video of this at the link below.) Campers also had the opportunity to make friendship bracelets - a longtime choir camp craft. They spent their virtual afternoon playing more Codenames, learning more theory with Eric and singing in their individual voice lessons with voice teachers Joel Chapman and Liz Emigh.
We can’t wait to join together in song tomorrow - check out all the fun we had today by clicking the dropbox link below!
